The Achieve programme is a ready-made personal development programme available for schools to deliver alongside the curriculum as an option for students, who are struggling to engage or access mainstream lessons. The foundation of the programme is our flexible qualification framework, allowing students at KS3-5 to access an Award, Certificate, Extended Certificate or Diploma sized qualification at either EL3, Lv1 or Lv2. Our broad curriculum allows schools to explore a variety of personal development topics with their students (either in a group or class setting or in 1:1 work), including Digital skills, Wellbeing, Enterprise, Sustainability and Community impact, Independent Living Skills and an array of Employability focused content.
Whilst school staff deliver the programme, Prince’s Trust staff provide ongoing support throughout the year and access to a huge online Hub of resources, session plans, workbooks and worksheets as well as enrichment opportunities, including direct experience days and workshops with a number of national and local employers. The programme, resources and staff support are all completely free of charge with only the qualification entries themselves incurring a cost.
The Enterprise Challenge is an inter-school competition where up to 30 young people from your schools (between the ages of 11-16) will work in teams, with the support of Prince’s Trust mentors, to become our Enterprise Challenge winners! Teams take part in a range of sessions and activities to build their entrepreneurial and employability skills.
The first stage of the competition is the classroom activity – six hours of sessions delivered in your school by Prince’s Trust staff and trained mentors with business experience. During these 6 hours, which can be split to suit your timetable, teams of 3-5 young people compete on our Business simulator game, which puts them in charge of running a new micro-business. They also learn about pitching a business and practice developing their public speaking skills. After three attempts at the game, the teams final score is submitted to the Challenge leader board.
The five teams with the highest game scores in their region go through to our regional finals to pitch their business ideas to a panel of professional experts, where they have the chance to win the Prince’s Trust Enterprise Challenge! The programme is completely free for schools to access and a great enrichment opportunity to introduce students from a range of ages, abilities, and backgrounds to the world of business!
