Spark Careers is excited to invite your students to a Live Employer Engagement Event on Careers in Gaming.

Supported by ScreenSkills – part of the BFI Future Film Skills programme funded by the National Lottery – the event is taking place on Tuesday 8th June at 9.10am and will enable students to gain insight into different careers within the Games industry via a panel of professionals in games art, programming and interactive software development.

Suzi Stephenson, TIGA, May 12, 2021

“The Entertainment Retailers Association (ERA) have this week released data that shows that Gaming is officially the UK’s most successful entertainment sector of the 21st century.

ERA’s research further shows that since 2000, the UK games sector has grown to 4.5 times its previous size. ERA attribute this astronomic growth to the rise of mobile and digital gaming.

The data shows that at beginning of the century, gaming was the smallest of the three sectors that ERA represents: gaming, video, and music. Based on 2020 data, it is now by far the largest.

At 47.8% of all of ERA’s sectors combined, gaming is almost as big as the video and music sectors put together.”

The virtual panel of professionals in games art, programming and interactive software development will answer live questions from students giving them live employer encounters counting towards the Gatsby 5 benchmark. Your students will:

  • Hear from a panel of games professionals
  • See the panel in action talking about their job
  • Be able to ask live questions
